History

In November 1995 we were contacted by the owner’s daughter, who indicated that her father wanted to sell his Carlight Cosmopolitan as he hadn’t used it for some time. We travelled to Barbon in Lancashire to view it, where it had stood unused for over 15 years, but were loath to tow it back. So we arranged to have it transported and it arrived safely here at our works on 16.2.96. Although this individual caravan was built in the early 1960s, it was designed in the mid 1950s, with the first production models coming out in 1957. This caravan is typical of those early Cosmopolitans, having a fibreglass covering laid over a plywood roof, rather than the later models which had a moulded fibreglass roof. Its 1950s origins are also evident in the aluminium front and rear panels, later vans having moulded fibreglass end panels.

With the exception of the new paint work on the roof areas and new curtains, this caravan is in its original condition.
